Iwate-Aomori JALT:

Using Video in the Classroom to Teach Language and Culture: Methods and Technolgies

Date: Sunday, October 26th, 2003 Time: 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Speaker: Todd Jay Leonard, Hirosaki Gakuin University

Description:
In today's communicative-based English language classes, teachers strive to include task-based, student-centered activities to enhance their instructional techniques. In addition to the four skills, there is a need to expose students to cross-cultural ideas. A very good way to augment communicative language teaching and to foster cross-cultural understanding is to include videos in the classroom to demonstrate visually the actual language and culture of the language. In this presentation, Leonard will demonstrate a variety of techniques using videos to get the most out of the language class.
