Description:
Since the early 1990s, the Internet has become an increasingly viable venue for the teaching and learning of English. This communication system offers a treasure trove of materials and resources for students and teachers alike, and provides a wide variety of opportunities for English language practice and development. This meeting will examine the current status of English teaching and learning on the Internet, and will also discuss some of the resources available to those involved in this field. The latter section of this presentation will explore some of the developments in this area, especially that of on-line EFL education and teacher training. About the speaker: Anthony Crooks has been involved in the ESL/EFL field since 1988, working in Australia, Korea, Thailand and now Japan. He is currently lecturing at Miyagi Univeristy of Education and is attempting to obtain his Doctorate in TESL, concentrating on the issue of on-line teacher training for non-native speakers of English.
