Teaching Knowledge Test Teacher Development Course

This summer intensive course is designed to assist teachers in their day to day teaching and provide practical ideas for adopting Communicative Methodology in their classrooms. As well as providing an excellent opportunity to develop your teaching skills and share ideas with other teachers, this will also be our first course designed to cover the syllabus for Modules 2 and 3 of the new Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) developed by Cambridge ESOL. Language and Background to Language Learning and Teaching (TKT Module 1) Participants will learn about terms and concepts common in English language teaching that are used to describe language and its use, and language skills. It will therefore focus on grammar, lexis, phonology, functions and the four skills. In addition, participants will learn about second language acquisition, including motivation and learner characteristics. Finally the module will deal with ways of presenting language, assessment, and a variety of teaching methods. Dates: Monday 15 August - Friday 19 August Time: 1000-1500 (20 hour course)
