Gunma JALT:

Summer Workshop at Kusatsu: Activating Language Activities in the Classroom (day 2 of 2)

Date: Sunday, August 25th, 2002 Time: 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Speaker: Todd Jay Leonard, Hirosaki Gakuin University

Description:
Effective Use of Audio-Visual Materials: In today's communicative-based English language classes, teachers strive to include task-based, student-centered activities to enhance their instructional techniques. A very good way to augment communicative language teaching is to include videos in the classroom to visually demonstrate the language. In this presentation, Prof. Leonard will demonstrate a variety of techniques using videos to get the most out of the language class.
About the presenter: Leonard is an associate professor at Hirosaki Gakuin Univiversity. He is the author of Cross Cultures: America and Japan (Kenkyusha), Extra! Extra! Read All About It! (Kinseido), and Team Teaching Together: A Bilingual Resource Handbook for JTEs and AETs (Taishukan).
Participants' presentations will be given before and after the lecture.
