ETJ East Tokyo:
New Applications of Textbooks and Syllabuses
Date: Sunday, November 17th, 2024 Time: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Speaker: Tomoko Kikuchi
Description:
My name is Tomoko Kikuchi. I am an EFL instructor teaching in a public elementary school. I am pursuing my MA at the University of Leicester in its distance learning TESOL and Applied Linguistics program. I gave a presentation at the JALT national conference in 2023 and the JTE TESOL Conference in 2024. In one of my postgraduate courses, I learnt how to analyze the syllabuses and textbooks I use. My purpose was to evaluate the existing educational methods and approaches for effective use. There are some strengths and weaknesses in the teaching methods and approaches, which led me to create supplementary materials. In the workshop, I will present them. I will also show the implications of my studies, which I found useful in my class such as CLIL, story reading, computer-assisted learning, etc.
