Kitakyushu JALT:
Building Better Dialogues
Date: Saturday, November 8th, 2003 Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Speaker: Christopher Storey and Nigel Stott
Description:
Most EFL/ESL textbooks incorporate model conversations as a means to present and practice language in a meaningful context. However, these so-called conversation textbooks can be frustrating to use and the dialogues they contain are not always relevant to our students' interests (often because they were written for mixed nationality groups of ESL students). This presentation describes a teacher-designed conversation course that follows a simple yet effective system of encouraging students to study model conversations then create, practice and perform their own dialogues.
